Meh... I've tried with all my other toons at least three times this week with a few earlier chests (can't be bothered to be repeatedly revisiting all of them) and still my Paragon is the only one who's been able to open them for a third time.

We need to make a big chart of all the variables we can think of, keep track of the data for 1000 different chars, and then maybe the pattern will emerge

4 out 6 of my pve characters could open chests again.

The following chests had purples each time.

I've now visited all treasures with 4 of my chars, all of whom have opened them twice before (second time immediately after first reset last month). Each of them have been able to reopen for a third time.

In total, these are chars who have seen both a lot of action/xp, and almost zero action/xp in the last month.

3 of the 4 did not attend any part of the Canthan New Year.

All of them have finished the game (finished before last reset, actually).

My variables will be the ones who only opened a portion of the treasures before the last reset, and those who opened them for the first time in the past month.

Dear Anet,
I am, like many others, wasting half of my gaming time having to run and re-run chests every day to determine whether a reset has had on a character. I know you like being coy and mysterious, but this lack of information of is ruining the gaming experience of many people. Please be more forthcoming with information on how the resets are happening so we can get back to playing the game.

I read it perfectly and who the hell is making you spend an hour a night doing this?

Anet is forcing me because unless you physically go there and check you cannot tell if it has been reset. Noone is being a victim, I'm asking anet to reveal the information so we can get back to playing the game.

As for getting a grip, I'm not the one thats flying off the handle here. If you have reasons for wanting to keep people in the dark the express them and make your point so that a legitimate debate can occur.

Chests that are easy and quick to run to and you should check:

Mehtani Keys
Issnur Isles
Jahai Bluffs
Mirror of Lyss
Nightfallen Jahai

And none of my dervish, monk, or mesmer could open those.

No one is forcing you to run the chests every day. Go play the game and try the chests later, maybe a week or so.

Getting away from the whole "you don't have to check them" argument, has anyone actually had the case where
1) They checked the chest on or after the 19th Feb and had no rewards.
2) They subsequently checked the chest again and found items.

In my case I had 1 character that could open them on the 19th feb, and 9 characters that couldn't. I have checked every day with the others none of the 9 have had a change in thier opening status.

Ive tried with 3 characters who have all completed nightfall. One Nighfall character, One Factions and One prophecies. Prophecies and Factions ahve completed their respective chapters.
All chests I tried were empty.

One additional factor is I started a new nighfall character and been playing through the game getting chests as i go.

Sorry to say you would have got 20-plat and 7 golds from high level chest runs in the same amount of time its taken you check the chests.

Lol... well it's certainly not ruining my gaming experience, I just pop them out and check the chests someone mentioned further up now and then. It's a want and need thing anyway, yeh I'd like the chests to pop out useful stuff for my chars, but mostly they've been Paragon shields, scrying glasses or scythes. So I generally salvage any good mods and merch the rest.

To be honest, the collector weapons from Factions are better than most of the NF ones. So if I need some gear for my heroes I just go and farm soul stones or warden horns and get the stuff I need there.

Umm, I'm with cellardweller on this one...It is very frustrating when some people can open chests for free and you can't. Since most farming spots have been severley nerfed it's necessary to take whatever you can since heroes push up rune prices etc.. Things are becomming expensive and noone is buying anything any more.

Moreover, that's more frustrating, is the fact some people can open the chests a third time while others can't...which is hardly fair. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "ruining" my gaming experience...I just find it unfair that some players are allowed to get wealthier for free while others aren't...

and you can guarantee that huh? I've ran a fair few chests and have VERY VERY rarely got anything worth selling...and never anything worth 20k before. Gaile has spoke on this everybody. She said the programmers won't release the formula but it will be different for each character. Also the more you open them, the worse they get, so the higher ended free chests, maybe the ones you wan to go for all the time.

That's what a friend of mine said she said on GWO and what I asked and she said today in Shing Jea ID1.

So everyone of our characters that hasn't, will be able to, but go for higher ended chests so you don't get purples as much. Believe me or don't, don't have any proof atm, but that's what I heard and I'm lead to believe it.

I tried on my necro that was the first through Nightfall and got golds on all of the Vabbi and Desolation chests and purples everywhere else including ROT.

In fact in the Domain of Pain chest I only got about 1 plat gold from the chest so a waste of time. Still gotta run through all of the chests on my other characters to see what I get but golds so far in Vabbi.
